Worship and Teaching
From the beginning of January 2010 the programme of worship undertook a series of changes in line with the aspirations and vision of the strategic plan for the future course of St. Mary’s. These changes sought to offer a worship style and format that would appeal to younger families and individuals, while continuing to offer traditional worship.
Worship at St. Mary’s is centred on the Eucharist at 8.00am with approximately 5-10 persons attending, and the parish communion at 11.00am currently attracting 50-70 persons each Sunday. The Eucharist at 8.00am is now exclusively from the Book of Common Prayer; and the 11.00am parish communion – called the Sunday Celebration – is evolving from a traditional Common Worship communion to more a more informal style of worship more suited to all ages. Junior Church also runs special activities for the children during the Sunday Celebration service.
